Château de l'Éspérance 2010
Bordeaux AOC

Château de l’Esperance produced a firm, structured wine in 2010, one of Bordeaux’s most exceptional vintages. The wine is still young and full of fresh cassis fruit that contrasts with its smooth, dark tannins. Impressive quality at a great price.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.

The Wine
Grapes have been grown on the slopes of Bordeaux’s Pujols, just south of the Dordogne river and southwest of Saint Emilion, since the 13th century. Château de l’Esperance itself has existed since the 18th century, and today they grow Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc grapes. Thanks to an excellent vintage and naturally low yielding vines, the character and concentration of this wine are truly exceptional. Winemaker and owner Claude Billot recommends you decant it a couple of hours in advance. Exposure to air allows the wine to open up, all its lush fruit and floral nuances to come to the fore, and tannins to soften, so it feels even smoother. This is a versatile wine but especially delicious with roast chicken or pan-fried duck.
