Bordeaux AOC

Critic Stephen Spurrier called 2015 “a modern vintage with real charm”, only fractionally less good than the great 2009 and 2010. Revel in the delightful, rich fruit and depth of this claret from a family estate just across the river from St Emilion.

The Wine
Bordeaux is a top spot for those seeking rich, yet elegant reds and most come at a great value price, too. And, unlike the old days, you don’t even have to wait years for the wines to be approachable. Bar the top strata, the majority are full of charm early on. Our Buyer is Bordeaux born himself, so he has the contacts to discover the best small parcel deals. This family estate lies just across the Dordogne river from Saint Emilion. It was acquired by Monsieur Lestang in 1920 and today is run by his grandson Patrick Bourrust. Patrick increased the vineyards sevenfold to 35 hectares, all planted on fine clay and limestone soils. Add the age of the vines (20 years) and careful winemaking and the result is this appealing double Gold winner.
