The Wine
They’ve been raising quality reds in the chalky clay soils of Cahors since Roman times. The Romans quickly saw that the region’s production surpassed wines they were making in Italy and soon the wines of Cahors were being enjoyed throughout the empire. Today, the appellation is still renowned for the quality of its big, rich reds and the grape’s inherent tannins have been tamed, as you’ll discover with this magnificent Malbec. It’s crafted by consultant oenologist Eric Filipiak, whose grandparents moved to France from Poland between the two world wars. Water was the norm to drink at home but Eric developed a fascination for wine and is now a veteran of over 30 vintages. Drinking perfectly now, Château Quattre is ideal with duck or lamb.
