The Wine
This impressive Nuits Saint Georges comes from a family domaine run by François and Claudine Confuron-Gindre. Their son Edouard will join them as soon as his winemaking studies and experience abroad are complete. The family are a well known name in Burgundy, but something of an insider secret abroad. They own 11 hectares of vineyards – 50 parcels scattered throughout the region, including some up to 100 years old. That is evident in the density of each wine’s fruit. This Nuits Saint Georges from an excellent vintage was aged in 25% new oak and bottled unfined and unfiltered for maximum body. It has ample, sweet, layered berry flavour and herbal nuances supported by dense, silken tannins. Open early and decant to enjoy now – there’s no rush.
