The Wine
Seductively silky and full of fruit, this supple, complex Morey is a fine example of the quality on offer from this charming family estate. Benoit Stehly took over from his uncle Georges – grandson of the founder – in 2002 and under his steady hand the estate’s wines have gone from strength to strength. The fruit for this moreish Morey is sourced from two sites, Les Crais and Clos Solon, both on the lower part of the hillside. After hand harvesting, grapes are crushed and left in contact with the skins for five days prior to fermentation. After pressing, the wine is treated to an 18 month rest in seasoned oak barrels to preserve the authentic expression of the fruit. Becoming approachable now, this will complement a luxurious chicken pie.
