The Wine
For a really appetising white, reach for a bottle of Vinho Verde. It’s style has evolved greatly since the ’70s, when winemakers would sweeten the wines for added appeal. Today they are super zingy and fresh. Founded in 1958 with just 25 growers, Adega de Monção is one of the region’s most modern cellars and its wines are celebrated all over Portugal. It lies in the superior Monção e Melgaço subregion to the north of the appellation, with dramatic mountains sloping down to the sea. Winemaker Fernando Moura, with 35 years of experience, selected the best parcels of native varieties Alvarinho (aka Spain’s Albariño) and Trajadura, cool fermenting them to capture all that aroma, a classic hint of spritz and delicate fruit. Great on its own.

A seafood wine par excellence. A refreshing wine, it's bright and citrusy with a slight sparkle
