Châteauneuf-du-Pape AOC

Only in great vintages does Jean-Marc Diffonty make tiny quantities of this truly luxurious Châteauneuf. The Trophy winning 2009 release is prodigiously concentrated, exceptionally long and complex and deserved its 91–94 Points from Robert Parker.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.
But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

The Wine
The Diffonty family can trace their history as growers of vines, as well as of olive and cherry trees, back to 1673. They owned just 2 hectares of vines in Châteauneuf at the start of the 20th century but steadily built up their holdings, and in 1958 launched the Cuvée du Vatican label with the blessing of the Pope. Today Jean-Marc Diffonty, president of the Young Winemakers of Châteauneuf-du-Pape, is at the helm. This is his top release – praised by fine wine critic Robert Parker for its “serious structure, powerful tannin and abundant mineral notes backed up by full body and impressive layers of fruit”. For drinking now, enjoy this luxurious red with plain roast meats, or, when it’s more mature, with venison casserole or game pie.
