Finca Libertad Merlot 2015

The specially selected grapes come from vineyards several hundred metres above sea level in old Castilla. Idyllic conditions here have attracted lots of outside investors of late, including the Murúa family, of Rioja’s Bodegas Muriel. Javier Murúa’s La Mancha estate, Finca Libertad, makes irresistibly modern reds. This dark, full bodied Merlot tastes even better if decanted an hour or two prior to serving – using a jug does the trick. With smooth cherry and spice flavours, it’s the perfect Spanish red to enjoy with chicken dishes, spicy meatballs, sausages or jamón serrano.
