Pinotage defines the unique character of Cape reds with its delicious, smoked berry character, while Shiraz adds a little more oomph and complexity. In Grill House, Bruce Jack has created the carnivore’s dream red. Expect rib-eye steak sales to soar.

The Wine
Many South African winemakers show a preference for either Pinotage or Shiraz. Bruce Jack loves them both and Grill House is his ode to their mutual compatibility. Fortunately Bruce’s education did not end with his MLitt from St Andrews in Scotland but also included a Wine Dip from Roseworthy, Australia. After working his way around the world he started his own wine business in a former dynamite factory on the Cape Town waterfront. He has a natural instinct for what makes a great wine but, be warned, this one has a deep undertow of black berry fruits and spice that drags you into the glass and refuses to relinquish its grip until the bottle is empty. So, don’t try this alone. Share with friends and a sizzling steak or a warming casserole.
