The Wine
Since their launch in 1982 Hunter’s have been winning hoards of prizes – including over 200 Golds – and no wonder with wines like this – so dazzling fresh, citrusy, ripe and elegant. In fact they’ve just been awarded the ‘Rose Bowl Trophy’ for the third time at the Royal Easter Wine Show. Hunter’s today is run by Jane Hunter, widow of Ernie Hunter and herself a highly qualified viticulturist. She has a string of accolades for her work, including a ‘UK Women in Wine Award’, an OBE and Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit. She now leaves the winemaking to her nephew James Macdonald, who’s had experience all over the world. Pure Pinot Noir, cool fermented with a little lees ageing for roundness, this pink is a delight solo or with food.
