South Australia

Baroota has always been a steal – a fine Shiraz crafted by the legendary Kevin Mitchell at Kilikanoon – “the most brilliantly run winery in Australia” (Robert Parker). You will find this newly released 2014 dark, rich, smooth and elegant.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.
But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.
The Wine
When our first shipment of Baroota sailed into British waters, we proclaimed it to be our most exciting Australian discovery to date. Several years on, we still reckon it is. The wine is crafted by Kevin Mitchell at Kilikanoon, whose flagship Shiraz rates a huge 98 points from Robert Parker and sells for around $250 a bottle. Although 2014 was a challenging vintage in South Australia, it produced “fragrant red wines especially Shiraz” writes James Halliday. The grapes were selected from a number of top quality, early ripening vineyards between Spencer Gulf and the Flinders Ranges, vinified in small batches, blended and bottled unfiltered for maximum flavour. Rich and powerful, it’s best decanted then served with steak or roast lamb.
