Keen to experience a characterful, ripe white a little different from the norm? Try Le Chai’s La Révélation. Its prized grapes come from Joseph Bousquet's domaine near Montpellier. He inherited 15 hectares, bought another dozen and in 1997 added the prized Les Quatre Pilas with another 6 hectares of vines. Le Chai’s Mark Hoddy loves the quality of fruit Joseph nurtures and works with him to produce a small selection of wines at Le Chai. La Révélation uses pure Roussanne – one of the much-loved white Rhône varieties – sourced from Joseph's old, high altitude vineyards. Hence the wines elegance and zip. Ripe peach, herb and white pepper with citrus freshness, this unoaked white is tasty solo and a treat with white meats, and creamy fish, too.
