Bordeaux AOC

Château Tour du Roch-Milon is an extraordinary estate, wedged between some very impressive crus classés châteaux. This wine may be their ‘ordinary’ Bordeaux but the cuvée contains a good dash of their Pauillac, making it remarkably rich and deep.

The Wine
Pascale Peyronie owns the under the radar Château Tour du Roch-Milon. As well as making superb Pauillac, the estate produces a small quantity of Bordeaux AOC and it’s really worth getting hold of some! The vines of the property perch on the same gravelly ridge as Château Mouton, one of Bordeaux’s ‘famous five’ First Growths. In fact, their vines share the same vineyard, demarcated only by different coloured stakes at the end of the rows. This estate may not be First Growth but that merely works in your favour if you enjoy a bargain. For this lovely 2014 Bordeaux, a good dash of their Pauillac was added to the blend. It’s fragrant, smooth, with classic cassis and liquorice character. Serve with grilled lamb chops or sausages and garlic mash.
