The Wine
Based in Castillon, Le Chai specialises in wines from Bordeaux, and head winemaker Jean-Marc Sauboua’s contacts give him access to small, exciting parcels from Pauillac to Pomerol and beyond. And with legendary charm JMS always manages to get them at an excellent price. In 2010 he was impressed by the fruit from a small property midway between Margaux and Saint Julien and just two kilometres from the Gironde river. Well drained vineyards ensure fabulous concentration in the Cabernet and Merlot grapes for this cuvée, while ageing in premium oak barrels has only added to the wine’s layers of rich flavour. This wine shows all the hallmarks of fine, modern Haut Médoc – dense fruit, elegant structure and complexity. Serve with roast red meats.
