With a trio of top scores – 93 points from Parker, Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast – this is outstanding Barolo from a 120 year old family estate. Still young, the wine is silky, feminine, aromatic and in Parker’s words “absolutely irresistible”.

The Wine
Four generations of the Massolino family have been crafting wine at their beautiful estate in Serralunga d’Alba. With each generation has come more outstanding vineyards – the founder’s grandchildren were key in acquiring a handful of top Barolo crus. Run today by the fourth generation, the estate has 23 hectares, and the tiny Parussi vineyard is one of the best. This 1.3 hectare parcel lies in Castiglione Falletto at 300 metres altitude, and produces outstanding quality Nebbiolo. Its wine receives enormous praise every vintage. Parker described the 2011 as “an epic wine with thick layers of dark fruit, spice and pressed rose” – it is also elegant, delicate and feminine. Preferably cellar, or decant early and enjoy with rich casseroles.
