The Wine
One of Australia’s oldest producers, Penfolds are renowned for their meticulous attention to detail and top wines that can mature for decades. Bin 150 typifies this. After analysing data, the winemakers discovered that the tiny hamlet of Marananga in the Barossa had exceptional terroir which yields fruit with incredible depth of flavour and superb tannic structure. Hence the release of Bin 150. This new vintage was awarded 91 points by Wine Advocate and features blueberry and leather aromas, and a profusion of flavours including smoky plum and cocoa. A year in American and French oak adds a complexity that ensures this poised Shiraz will become even more lavish over the next decade. It’s also delicious now – decant and serve with beef.
