Sentiero dei Pini Chardonnay 2016

Chardonnay is a grape of many guises, planted all over the world. It ranges in style from the citrus charged, steely fresh wines of Chablis to rich, toasty, oak aged whites, full of exuberant pineapple and spice flavours. It’s also a key player in Champagne. Sentiero dei Pini, however, is from Trentino in northern Italy, and, as you’d expect, this cool, mountainous region shows Chardonnay’s crisper, more elegant side. This wine was made by Giuseppe Secchi, a local expert who knows where to source the best quality grapes. He aged the wine on its lees (the residue from fermentation) to enhance its creamy weight. Mouthwateringly fresh with a hint of tropical fruit, it’s a ‘drink anytime’ wine that’s great with seafood, grilled fish or risotto.
