Sierra Almirón Lees-Aged Chardonnay 2015
Castilla VdT

Sierra Almirón is the project of a man famous for his superb Riojas, so this rich, creamy and affordable Chardonnay is something of a break with tradition. It comes from La Mancha, where Carlos Martínez Bujanda cleverly invested in vines years ago.
We're sorry, this wine is sold out.
But don't worry, you'll find plenty more handpicked wines here.

The Wine
Carlos Martínez Bujanda’s great grandfather established the first Bujanda cellar in Rioja in 1884. A century later Carlos and his siblings built a state of the art winery that has earned them a slew of awards. Now the ever-adventurous Carlos has turned his attention to La Mancha, where his Finca Antigua winery is producing top value wines. Land in La Mancha is much cheaper despite a generous assortment of seriously old vines. Add benchmark Bujanda attention to detail – from labour intensive hand picking to prolonged fermentation – and you can taste the result. This fine Chardonnay was stirred on its lees (the residue of fermentation) to add considerable complexity and weight. It’s delicious with rich seafood dishes or chicken casserole.
