The Wine
We’re proud to offer you this luscious Tempranillo. It’s from Lalo Antón – of Viña Izadi Rioja fame – who also owns Finca Villacres in fashionable Ribera del Duero and Bodegas Vetus in up and coming Toro. The fruit from each estate’s top vineyards goes into their limited release flagship wines, so in bumper years excess fruit is blended away. But in 2013, our Buyer Beth Willard – the UK’s Wine Buyer of the Year – asked Lalo if he’d make us an exclusive Tempranillo from the excess premium fruit from Ribera and Toro. He agreed and crafted this beautifully well balanced, complex red with a rich, velvety mouthfeel and vibrant acidity. Six months in French and US oak added layers of spicy vanilla to the lush red fruit. Great solo or with lamb.

I love the mix of deep, rich flavour and lively red fruit – a powerful, beautifully balanced wine
