Where is Pouilly-Fumé?
Pouilly-Fumé is located in the Loire Valley region in central France. This appellation lies on the eastern edge of the Loire Valley, near the town of Pouilly-sur-Loire, and is located directly across the river from the larger Sancerre AOC. Both regions are famous for their exceptional Sauvignon Blanc wines. However, despite their proximity, the wines from each region have their unique characteristics due to differences in soil, climate and winemaking traditions.
The Pouilly-Fumé vineyards cover around 1,200 hectares and stretch across several wine-growing communes. These include Pouilly-sur-Loire, Saint-Andelain and Tracy-sur-Loire.
