The Wine
Experience one of Italy’s finest reds in this richer style of Valpolicella. It’s from an award winning cellar, Cantina Negrar, founded over 80 years back and said to have been the first to develop an Amarone style. This gorgeous red contains a portion of Ripasso wine – when the Valpolicella grapes are fermented with the skins and lees of Amarone wine – which lends considerable body and richness. The result is a silky red with ripe spicy plum aromas and a complex mouthful of cinnamon and tobacco notes blending with its cherry plum fruit. Using all hand picked grapes – Corvina, Corvinone and Rondinella – with a portion briefly aged in large oak barrels, this is a charming wine. Enjoy on its own or with pasta, white meats or wood-fired pizzas.
