It’s from a 5-Star cellar in Châteauneuf – an appellation best known for powerful reds, but which also makes gorgeous, rich whites, though not in any quantity. No surprise, when you hear this wine uses grapes from two special vineyards that yield a tiny 24 hectolitres per hectare. Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate is full of praise for this wine, describing it as “a beautifully pure white with a killer finish”. This is Jean-Marc Diffonty’s premier cuvée, only made in the best vintages, from pure, half century old Roussanne, and aged in 20% new oak to lend spice to its ripe nectarine, white peach and citrus intensity.
