The Wine
The Loire is the place to seek out Sauvignon of impeccable elegance, such as Sancerre and Pouilly Fumé. Here’s one that has a delicious twist of difference. It’s from a tiny appellation on the eastern edge of the Touraine just west of the famous areas named above. Clos de Nozieux is a 3 hectare vineyard close to 600 year old Château de Cheverny, abutting the River Loire and a source of supreme quality grapes. With such great fruit you’d expect a winemaker of Guillaume Leclerc’s talents to produce a 5-Star wine expressing the terroir of this unique region. He’s done just this, and enjoyed Gold medal success for the last three vintages. With the credentials of 2015, we’re expecting even more. Elegant and fresh – great with fish or on its own.
