The Wine
This lovely Burgundy comes from a highly respected domaine in Chambolle Musigny, one of the most reliable villages in Burgundy. It’s crafted by Dominique Le Guen, Joël Hudelot-Baillet’s son in law. In recent years the wines have really benefited from lower yields in the vineyards and a progressive management system under which routine spraying is an anathema. The wines are now also estate bottled. This stylish 2013 has the powerful red fruit character of Pinot Noir enhanced by smoky oak aromas. It’s complex, soft and long on the palate. Open for two to three hours before drinking to allow its full character to unfurl. Serve with grilled red meats or, even better, with the famous specialities of Burgundy like coq au vin or boeuf bourguignon.
"A really charming red Burgundy that ticks all the boxes"
Hilario Ribeiro
