Fantini Montepulciano 2015

One of many customers delighted by the Gold medal winning debut release of Fantini described it as “one of the smoothest, most flavoursome reds we’ve tasted”. The great news is that the 2015 is every bit as good, and has just bagged a Gold, too. Fantini is the creation of Farnese, whom we first got together with in 1993. The three men behind the cellar then was Filippo Baccalaro, Valentino Sciotti and Camillo De Iuliis. Few had heard of the Montepulciano grape, but a decade later their Montepulciano d’Abruzzo had won ‘Best Italian Red’ at the International Wine Challenge – and wine guru Robert Parker urged everyone to “buy it by the car load”. Do the same with Farnese Fantini – brimful of dark plum and cherry, hearty, rich and charming.
