The Wine
Paolo Masi is one of Tuscany’s brightest stars, producing award winning wines each vintage. One of his finest releases is I Pini, not typically Tuscan, but of the highest quality. Paolo took over the third generation family estate in the premium Rufina district in 1992. Since then he’s been upgrading the cellar and researching his 30 hectares of vines to select the best clones of each variety and matching them with their ideal terroir. He is meticulous about every aspect of production. And it shows in both the fabulous quality of the wines and the scores they achieve. I Pini is a supreme Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah, aged in part new French oak to lend a rich layer of chocolatey vanilla spice to the dense fruit. Ideal with game or red meats.
"Plump layers of dark cherry, blackberry and spice. Oak-driven aromas include leather and tobacco"
