The Wine
Marlborough first made its name with Sauvignon Blanc, of course, but is now boasting equally delicious wines from the Pinots Noir and Gris. Just taste all the luscious ripe flavours of this white, now with a little bit of age. It’s from Fleur McCree and Hemi Duns, passionate oenophiles who were sheep farmers until 2002, when they decided to set up Insight in the Waihopai Valley of Marlborough. Today they make a small selection of single vineyard wines with Eveline Fraser, former head winemaker at the most famous Kiwi estate of them all, Cloudy Bay. Insight Pinot Gris is exuberant in character with lots of ripe stone fruit, freshness and a hint of creamy spice. Delightful solo, it also makes a fine partner to spicy Thai or chicken dishes.
"Pinot Grigio’s more characterful twin, this Pinot Gris is packed with ripe fruit. Truly enjoyable"
Dan Parrott
