The Wine
Shingle Peak Reserve is a special selection of Sauvignon from Matua Valley Wines. This groundbreaking estate was started in 1973 by brothers Ross and Bill Spence, in an old tin shed in the heart of the Marlborough region. They quickly gained a reputation for innovative, award winning wines, and it was their Sauvignon Blanc that inspired Marlborough’s Sauvignon revolution in subsequent decades. Today, the estate is as pristine and modern as any and their winemaker, Nikolai St George, was awarded in 2013 and 2014 ‘Winemaker of the Year’. Shingle Peak 2014 is really intense, full of lemon, green pepper and grassy notes with ripe passion fruit and pineapple flavours to balance. Enjoy this wine with fish and chips, mussels or a salade niçoise.
"One of the best Sauvignons I’ve tasted. Packed with intense flavours but with a lovely crispness"
